Problems Fruugo sellers run into

Products that never go live on Fruugo, and how to find out why

You connect your store, send your feed, and a chunk of your catalogue never appears on Fruugo. Usually nothing tells you which products are missing, let alone why.

The short answer. Relay Sentry gives every product one reason it isn't live, such as “No category”, “Invalid barcode” or “Rejected by Fruugo”, and lets you filter the catalogue by that reason. Unmapped product types are listed with the biggest first, each with suggested Fruugo categories you can accept in one click.

01The problem

Fruugo only accepts a product that has a category from its own list, a valid barcode (GTIN, EAN or UPC), a brand, a description, a title of 5 to 150 characters, an image and a SKU. A product missing any of these is dropped from the feed or rejected, and most connectors leave you to open products one by one to find out which rule it broke.

Categories are the biggest hurdle. Fruugo's category list has thousands of entries, and picking one for each product type from a long, unsearchable dropdown can take days for a large catalogue. Until it's done, every product of that type stays off Fruugo.

02What it costs you

  • A product that isn't live can't sell, and there's no error in your inbox to tell you it's missing.
  • You can lose days to category mapping before your first sale, and more every time you add a new product type.
  • When Fruugo rejects a product after review, the reason often never reaches you, so the same mistake repeats on the next product.

03How Relay Sentry fixes it

One reason per product

Every product in the Catalog shows why it isn't live: no category, no product type, invalid barcode, no image, no description, no brand, title too short, missing SKU, duplicate title, blocked word, delivery wording, no country allowed, excluded by tag, out of stock, rejected by Fruugo, or awaiting Fruugo.

Filter by reason and fix one cause at a time

Show only the products with an invalid barcode, fix them, then move on to the next reason, instead of working through the catalogue product by product.

A queue of unmapped product types, biggest first

The Mappings page lists every product type without a Fruugo category, with the most products first, so the first few rules cover most of your catalogue.

Suggested categories from Fruugo's own list

Each unmapped type gets up to three suggestions drawn from Fruugo's category list. Accept one with a click, or tick several and accept them together. Nothing is saved until you accept it, and every rule shows how many products it affects.

Fruugo's own reason for a rejection

When Fruugo rejects a directly published product, “See why” shows Fruugo's validation message for each variant, with a link to the page that fixes it and a «Publish again» button.

A bad row is held back, not sent broken

Products that fail a check are left out of that feed run and counted, not sent to Fruugo half-finished, and they aren't removed from Fruugo either, so fixing them puts them straight back.

04Where you'll find it in the app

  1. Open Catalog in Relay Sentry. Each product shows its reason, and the summary at the top counts products missing a category or details Fruugo needs.
  2. Go to Catalog → Mappings to work through unmapped product types, accepting suggestions or searching Fruugo's category list.
  3. Back on Catalog, filter by a reason such as Invalid barcode and fix those products in Shopify.
  4. The next feed run picks up every fix. Products show In your feed once they've been sent.
